Easy Dessert Recipes

Being an international student abroad is not easy, and the pandemic has been adding more stress all over the globe circa 2020. Between studying, assignments, exams, and balancing social life, students often neglect their personal well-being.

Read on to find out how these small steps can help to take care of your mental and physical health.

Say "No"

Saying "no" to people is harder than it seems. We are social creatures, and we long to fit in. But occasionally, you need downtime to recharge. That means saying no to invitations from friends to prioritize your needs. Be selective and only say yes to things that bring you happiness and peace of mind.

Eat healthy, balanced meals

The old adage 'healthy body, healthy mind' is true. When your body is well taken care of, you feel more energized and ready to take on the day. A healthy lifestyle doesn't mean you can't have burgers, fries, ice cream and all that goodies. Allow yourself to have them once every other day or once a week. Find joy in home-cooking and make sure you have a balanced diet of greens, fruits, carbs, and protein most of the time.

Excercise

Stay active, carve time for home exercise or take one hour daily to walk in a park. Spending hours sitting down in front of your computer can take a toll on your body. Take a short 15-minutes break from time to time and stretch or do silly dances to a happy tune.

Self-discipline

Train yourself to be consistent. You can start simply by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. Don't overwhelm yourself with many tasks and big goals. Set one small goal for the day and a few tasks, order them from the easiest to the most difficult. This way, you also learn to prioritize, and you will feel more productive by the end of the day. Be patient and start small so you don't get frustrated with the process.

Set aside "me" time

Create a ritual. It can be a series of activities you do in the morning or before bedtime. Turn off social media and be aware of your surrounding. Read a book, light an aromatic candle, take a warm bath, anything that fueled you to take on the day or help you to wind down at night.
